Privacy policy ✦
Plain language, no legal fog: what we collect when you write to us or browse this site, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Who we are and what this page covers
Last updated: 7 October 2026
velarde.dev is a digital studio run by Fernando Velarde, based in Managua, Nicaragua. We design and build websites, produce content for social media and manage Meta and Google Ads campaigns for our clients.
This policy explains what happens with personal data on this website (velarde.dev, including the Spanish version at /es/) and when you contact us by email or WhatsApp. It does not cover the sites we build for our clients: each of those has its own owner and its own policy.
Questions about this page, or about your data: [email protected].
What we collect
What you send us. If you write to us by email, WhatsApp or the contact options on this site, we receive what you choose to send: your name, how to reach you, the company you work for, and the details of what you need. We do not ask for more than that, and you decide what to share.
Language preference. When you switch between English and Spanish, this site stores a small cookie called vd-lang so the pages you open next stay in the language you chose. It lasts up to one year and contains nothing but that choice.
Automatic data. Like almost every website, ours receives technical information when a page is loaded: IP address, browser and device type, the page requested and the time. Our hosting and content delivery provider (Cloudflare) processes this to serve the site and protect it against abuse.
Usage measurement. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read, how visitors arrive and where they leave. It works with cookies and reports aggregated information; it is not used to identify you personally.
Advertising. When we run a paid campaign for a client, Meta or Google may set their own cookies on the pages that campaign points to, to measure whether the ad worked. Those platforms act as independent controllers of that data.
What we do not collect. We do not ask for or want sensitive data (health, religion, political opinions, biometric data) through this site, and we do not run a sign-up area, so there are no accounts or passwords to protect here.
Why we use it
To answer you. Reading your message and replying, preparing a proposal and, if we end up working together, delivering the project.
To run the site. Keeping the pages online, fast and available, and remembering your language choice.
To understand what works. Seeing which pages and which articles are useful, so we improve them instead of guessing.
To run campaigns. Measuring whether an ad produced visits or enquiries, and improving the targeting and the destination page.
To comply. Keeping records when accounting, tax or other rules require them.
We do not use your data for automated decisions that produce legal effects for you, and we do not sell personal data to anyone.
Who processes it
We keep the list short and public, because that is the honest way to do it:
Cloudflare — content delivery, security and abuse protection.
Our hosting provider — the CloudPanel server that stores and serves the site and its files.
Google — Analytics 4 for measurement, and Google Ads when a campaign is running.
Meta — Meta Ads and Instagram/Facebook measurement when a campaign is running.
Font and image services — Fontshare and Google Fonts for typography. They serve the font files; the site does not send them your identity.
Email and messaging — the providers behind [email protected] and WhatsApp, which are the channels you use to write to us.
Beyond that, we only share data when the law requires it or when you ask us to.
How long we keep it
Messages and proposals: while the conversation or the project is active, and afterwards only as long as we need them to answer a question, keep the record of a job or meet an accounting obligation.
Analytics data: according to the retention setting of the Analytics property, in aggregated form.
The vd-lang cookie: up to one year from the moment you choose a language. You can delete it whenever you want from your browser settings.
When a retention period ends we delete the data or make it anonymous, whichever fits what it was kept for.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it for a particular purpose. You can also object to the use of your data for marketing or advertising.
To do any of that, write to [email protected] and tell us what you need. We will confirm we received it and answer as soon as possible; where a local rule sets a deadline, we meet it.
If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the data protection authority of your country. In Nicaragua, that authority is the Procuraduría para la Defensa de los Derechos Humanos (PDDH).
Cookies. The language cookie is what makes the site work in your language; you can delete or block cookies in your browser at any time. To limit measurement and advertising cookies, use your browser settings, the Google Ads Settings page and the Meta ad preferences page. Blocking them does not break the site; you may simply see less relevant advertising.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and access to the accounts that manage it is protected with strong authentication. We only keep the data we need for the purposes above.
No internet system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise that a breach will never happen. If one ever affected your data, we would tell you what happened and what we are doing about it.
Where your data goes
We are based in Nicaragua and we use service providers that operate in other countries, mainly the United States and the European Union. That means your data may be processed outside your country, where privacy rules may differ from the ones you have at home.
When we use those providers, we pick ones that publish clear privacy terms and that offer the standard contractual safeguards for international transfers.
Children and third-party sites
This site is aimed at businesses and professionals, not at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us data, tell us and we will delete it.
Some pages link to client sites, social profiles or platforms we do not control. Once you leave this site, their own policies apply; we cannot answer for them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal data, we update this page and the date at the top. If the change is significant for you, we will also point it out where you contacted us.
Continuing to use the site after a change means the updated policy applies to your next visit. If something here is unclear, write and ask: a question is better than an assumption.
